sea to summit Manufacturer information

Sea to summit is a small company that creates and manufactures outdoor, travel and water sports products. Sea to summit now sells to over 35 countries and has won many design and business awards in Australia, Europe and America. The company is constantly looking for the best materials, production methods and ideas for new products.

Headquarters

The company's headquarters are located in the most isolated capital city in the world, Perth, Western Australia. Australia is a country that loves to be outside. The vast wilderness, independent coastlines, backcountry with rocky ranges, wild rivers and distant deserts invite you to explore and enjoy.

The philosophy

Sea to summit's main goal is to make useful clothes to motivate and inspire people to travel and, of course, live an active outdoor life. Each piece of clothing is meant to inspire the desire to take it outside and travel with it, be more organized, or be more comfortable. The easy care material makes it possible not to worry about the conditions, but to enjoy the journey and travel the wonderful world.

How it all began

Roland Tyson began to discover the outdoors for himself and he was especially enthusiastic about climbing. In his room he sewed his own clothes and at some point this was his full time job. He called his small business "Namche Bazaar", and set it up in the middle of Perth. In 1984 Tim Macartney was out and about in Perth and met Roland Tyson. The latter asked him for some tips on crossing the Himalayas and a new friendship was born. When Tim was planning his ascent of Everest, he asked Roland for some light equipment for his trip. He was still using this 20 years later. In 1990 Tim and Roland founded "Sea to Summit". The company was named after Tim's successful expedition. Innovative and lightweight clothing helped the young entrepreneurs to success. Their experience and knowledge of the outdoor life made "Sea to Summit" grow and 21 years later, in June, Roland, his girlfriend and Tim are still the owners, but the family has grown to 50 employees. Meanwhile, the products are sold in over 35 countries. And even after the long time, "Sea to Summit" is constantly looking for the best materials and product methods.
