Odlo Manufacturer information

Dare to take paths that others haven't even thought of yet. That was the motto of the sports enthusiast Odd Roar Lofterod. In sport as in life. In 1946, the then 31-year-old Norwegian founded a clothing company that produced women's underwear. Firmly convinced of success, he had the Odlo brand protected worldwide in the very year of its foundation.

Odlo conquers the sports world

For his son Odd Roar Junior, a speed skater, the pioneer of sportswear developed a pair of training pants made of Helanca that protected against the cold. This prototype was to conquer the winter sports world years later. As early as 1964, the entire Norwegian national team was running in elastic and functional Odlo suits. At the Olympic Games in 1972 there were already 25 nations. One year later Lofterod launched the first fully synthetic sports underwear. For the Termic products, speed skaters were also the source of ideas.

Odlo perfected the three-layer principle

"My father's goal was always to be a nose ahead. Nothing has changed in that respect", Odd Lofterod Junior, who took over Odlo in 1979, has the same creative entrepreneurial spirit as his father.
In 1987 Odlo perfected the three-layer principle in sportswear. The underwear provides optimal moisture management, the second layer regulates the temperature and the third layer protects against wind and weather

Underwear with odour-inhibiting silver ions: The breakthrough for Odlo

At the turn of the millennium, the now globally active company with headquarters in Switzerland achieved a breakthrough with the first underwear with odour-inhibiting silver ions. The odour problem of synthetic underwear was solved by the fibre Effect by Odlo. With the new all-season underwear quality Cubic, the Norwegians set another milestone. The ultra-light knit construction with a three-dimensional, cubic structure ensures a pleasant body climate. The body-hugging sports underwear and sports bra range followed. Odlo's sports underwear concept is based on the temperature control system and offers the right clothing for any outside temperature and intensity of movement.
