Osprey Stratos 44

The Stratos 44 from Osprey is an excellent hiking backpack that comes with all the essential comfort features. The soft mesh fabric of the Airspeed mesh back has been seamlessly pulled all the way into the hip belt, so there are no annoying seams to rub or pinch. The back system is infinitely adjustable so that it always fits perfectly. When the Stratos 44 is packed, you have several ways to get to your stuff in the main compartment. If they are on top, you open the lid, are they more in the middle, then you have access via a zipper on the side. The side access has the advantage that you don't have to put your backpack with your back on the ground and so your t-shirt or jacket won't get dirty. You can also access it through the zipper on the sleeping bag compartment. So you don't have to set the Stratos down when you want to stow your trekking poles, it has the Stow-on-the-Go™ attachment system. This is an additional pole holder right on the carrier. There's also a zippered pocket on each side of the hip belt, so you'll always have your compass, cell phone or energy bar right at hand. Since it is recommended to drink a lot on longer tours, there is a hydration bladder compartment. But you can also stow a water bottle or umbrella in the mesh pockets on the side.
