Schöffel

At the beginning of the 19th century Schwabmünchen was the stronghold of knitters. One of them was called Georg Schöffel, who travelled the country as a hosier and sold Schwabmünchen blue at trade fairs in in Frankfurt and Leipzig. Schöffel received his concession in 1804. His son Josef not only survived the travails of war in the Coalition War against Napoleon, he also saved the Bavarian army at the Battle of Abensberg Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig at the Battle of Abensberg. His courage was rewarded several times. The crown prince thanked him with the silver medal for bravery, which earned him a lifetime pension which earned him a lifelong pension and spared him further war service. This gave Josef Schöffel money and the opportunity to expand the hosiery business. Two centuries later the company Schöffel has become the market leader for outdoor clothing.

Schöffel between tradition and innovation

200 years ago Schwabmünchner Blau conquered the textile market, today it is high-quality products for active people with high demands. What has remained is down-to-earthness and "Passion for what we do, for our products, for our customers and for our employees", as Peter Schöffel emphasised at the "Mittelstandsmarke des Jahres 2007" awards ceremony.

More than 60 Schöffel shops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

The premium brand has developed carefully and recognised early on that outdoor is "in". Ten years ago the family business opened the first Schöffel-Lowa in Frankfurt together with shoe specialist Lowa opened the first Schöffel-Lowa store in Frankfurt. Today there are more than 60 shops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
