Salomon Manufacturer information

If you have history, you can write history. Like Georges Salomon. Half a century ago, he invented the modern safety binding for skis that releases automatically. It all started in a small workshop on the edge of Mont Blanc. Francois Salomon and his son Georges made ski boards there shortly after the World War.

"What fascinates me, I tackle tomorrow"

Carried by Georges Salomon's visions, the company continued to develop. In addition to ski bindings, it was the ski boot that caused a sensation. It took until the mid-1980s for Salomon to discover summer sports as well – a niche that would become an important mainstay years later after the ski market collapsed. In addition to cross-country skiing, skiing and snowboarding equipment, the Salomon collection today includes an extensive trail running and outdoor range. Thanks to the close cooperation between top athletes and product developers, the Salomon brand stands for highly functional and innovative products.

The visionary Georges Salomon focused strongly on conveying visual values, placed people and nature in the foreground and developed his unmistakable product design for the customer's purchasing decision. What today is the norm as corporate identity, Georges Salomon also made marketing history.

It must have been bitter for Salomon to later find himself in the lap of the Adidas Group. However, Salomon took a lot of know-how in sports footwear from the collaboration. One example is the robust XA Pro or the iconic Speedcross 3 for mountain running or trail running.

Kilian Jornet meets Salomon

Spanish multiple world champion in skyrunning and ski touring Kilian Jornet literally runs around the world with Salomon (-shoes). In doing so, he breaks trail running records and always sets off for new goals. 190 kilometers and 10,000 vertical meters in 32 hours, 54 minutes and 24 seconds: Georges Salomon, who passed away three years ago, would be proud of his summit runner.

Also leading the way in hiking

Like ski bindings once did, a secure fit and unique grip give the foot support in Salomon sports and hiking boots. The strong partnership with Gore-Tex shoe technology guarantees a pleasant foot climate. Salomon is the world leader in the hiking and leisure segment. In the meantime, the Salomon brand belongs to the Finnish Amersports group of companies. The Salomon headquarters is located in Annecy, France, close to Chamonix and the Mont Blanc massif, just as it was in 1947 when the company was founded.
